How To Make Red, White and Blue Chocolate Covered Pretzels
This delicious Patriotic dessert is so simple to make! You will need just a few ingredients to make it. You have to work fast, so that the melted chocolate doesn’t start hardening.
Put the Red, White and Blue Star Sprinkles on a plate.
Put the chocolate chips and butter in a microwave safe bowl. Use the microwave to melt them, please refer to the recipe card below for the instructions.
Line a big plate with parchment paper.
Once the chocolate is melted, use a fork to dip pretzels in it, one at a time.
You can now either dip the chocolate covered pretzels into the red, white and blue sprinkles stars on the plate, or you can first put the pretzels on parchment paper and sprinkle a few sprinkles over them. When you sprinkle, you have more control over how many sprinkles you add, and that is our preferred method.
Once you make the Red, White and Blue Chocolate Covered Pretzels, put them in the fridge.
Once they sit in the fridge for an hour or two, they are ready to eat!
Serve them on a Stars and Stripes Plate!

Tips For Making Red, White and Blue Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Use these adorable Red, White and Blue Stars sprinkles to sprinkle on the chocolate pretzels!
It is very important to use parchment paper, otherwise the pretzels will stick to the plate as they cool.
To make white chocolate patriotic pretzels, use white chocolate chips instead of the dark ones. Then, you can use red and blue sprinkles to make Red, White and Blue pretzels.
If you prefer milk chocolate chips, use those for your pretzels.
Melted chocolate hardens fast, so after you melt it, work fast to cover the pretzels, and to add sprinkles. Melted chocolate needs to still be very soft, when you sprinkle the stars, for them to adhere.
If you run out of melted chocolate, just melt more chocolate chips with butter and use it.
If you have too much melted chocolate left over, you can dip fruit in it, such as Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

Red, White and Blue Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Equipment
- Large Plate
- Microwave
Ingredients
- 6 oz Dark Chocolate Chips
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 6 oz Pretzels
- 1 oz Red, White and Blue Star Sprinkles
Instructions
- Cut butter into small pieces. Place butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. To melt in the microwave, cook on high for 1 minute. If the butter and chips haven't melted completely, continue melting for 15 seconds at a time, then mix the mixture together. You will want to stop at a point where they are not 100% melted, as once you mix them, they will continue melting.
- Dip the pretzels one at time into the chocolate mixture, using a fork. Turn the pretzel in chocolate mixture, so that both sides are covered with chocolate.
- Line the large plate with parchment paper. Take the pretzel out, put on parchment paper, and sprinkle with a few Red, White and Blue Star Sprinkles.Use the same process for the rest of the pretzels.
- Put the plate with pretzels in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. Serve as a dessert with Chinese Spare Ribs, Instant Pot Potato Salad and Red, White and Blue Salad.
