I like broccoli, and since it is also good for you, I try to make it often. The easiest way to make broccoli is to steam it, and that is what this recipe is about – how to steam broccoli. All you need is broccoli, water and a steamer, it does not get any easier than that. I like this type of steamer – you have an insert and you can use the pan as a steamer or just as a pan.
But what do you do once you steam it? You can dress it with a bit of vinegar and olive oil, Parmesan cheese, spices, garlic, (just not all at once).
Broccoli with a bit of olive oil is a healthier side dish, so you may want to serve it as a side dish for a club sandwich or a BLT Sandwich.
You can also stir fry broccoli after you steam it. In this case steam it for a shorter period of time, so that it stays crunchy after steam it and stir fry it.

How To Steam Broccoli
Wash and clean your broccoli. I usually steam the stem as well. Just cut off and discard the the tough ends, and chop the rest of the stem. Separate the broccoli into florets.
Add water to your steamer and bring it to boil. Put broccoli on the insert, and steam. Now, the time for steaming it really depends on what you are planning to do with the broccoli later.
If you are just going to dress it and eat it, you may want to steam it a bit longer, 5-7 minutes. If you want to stir fry it afterwards, 3-5 minutes should be enough.
Once your broccoli comes out of the steamer, let it cool, dress and serve. You can also use the steamed broccoli to make Broccoli Stir Fry or Garlicky Broccoli Stir Fry. And this is how to steam broccoli!
