So what could be better than to make this into a fun Halloween snack, by putting pieces of pecans on top? Make this fabulous variation, and you can serve it as a snack or an appetizer for your Halloween party!
What is Ants on a Log? Quite simply, it is a very easy to make and delicious snack. It consists of celery (or another vegetable, such as carrot or cucumber), with peanut butter (or cream cheese, or hummus or ricotta spread) and some other yummy stuff on tops, such as dry cranberries, raisins, pecans, pepitas or more.
Ants on a Log Variations
There are so many variations for this delicious kids snack! And because of that, you can make it many times, without repeating.
Instead of celery, you can use cucumber, zucchini, carrots, or even bread, just cut bread into sticks to resemble logs! Don’t like peanut butter with cucumber or carrots? Not problem, use hummus or ricotta spread instead.
Instead of peanut butter, you can use cream cheese, hummus, ricotta spread, or sunflower butter or almond butter.
And instead of pecans on top you can use raisins, cranberries, cherries, almonds, pepitas or any other nuts or dry fruit.
